Brabners announced as new Legal Partner for the Finance Director of the Year Awards

Accountable Recruitment, HSBC and Grant Thornton are delighted to welcome Brabners on board as the new legal partner for the Finance Director of the Year Awards.

Founded 9 years ago the awards cover the Merseyside, Lancashire, Cheshire, North Wales and Warrington regions. The prestigious Finance Director of The Year Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding work done by the region's tireless financial directors, rewarding the often underestimated jobs they do.

Simon Massey, Managing Director at Accountable Recruitment commented; “We are delighted to welcome Brabners to the team and look forward to beginning the shortlisting process in May. The last 12 months have been beyond anything we have experienced before and our regions valiant CFOs and Finance Directors have been working hard to allow their businesses to meet the challenges of the pandemic head on. We have seen extraordinary examples of businesses pivoting their activity, refinancing and restructuring to secure their futures.  Now more than ever we should be celebrating the incredible work they have undertaken.”

Mark Rathbone, Brabners’ Head of Corporate, said: “The last 12 months have been really tough for businesses and finance directors have had a particularly challenging job balancing the books and helping keep businesses afloat during the pandemic. We are joining Accountable Recruitment as legal partner to highlight the region’s outstanding finance talent and bring much needed recognition for the work these individuals do. We are delighted to be involved in this prestigious initiative and look forward to re-engaging with many of our business partners as we emerge from the pandemic.”

Tom Carter, Area Director, Corporate Banking  said: “‘We are delighted that Brabners will be joining us in supporting the FD of the Year awards. We look forward to working alongside them to recognise the achievements and celebrate the success of the regions FD population, in what we all know has been an extremely challenging environment.’’

Neil Sturmey, partner in Grant Thornton’s Liverpool office, said: “The past 12 months have tested most businesses. Many have only been able to weather incredibly difficult trading conditions due to astute, pragmatic decision making from their chief financial officers and finance directors. For those in industries which have boomed due to demand driven by measures to control the pandemic, the challenge has been different but just as noteworthy. This has been the most uncertain period in our lifetimes to be leading strategic M&A activity, entering new global markets, or raising growth capital. We are blessed with an array of incredibly talented FDs and CFOs in our local region, and we’re delighted to celebrate their contribution, in this year more than ever.”
