Expense Analyst / Merseyside / Permanent / £35,000 - £50,000 (dependent on experience)

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Expense Analyst to join our clients growing Finance team. In this brand-new role, you will be focused on managing £66m of the group total expense base. As an Expenses Analyst, you will be responsible for monitoring, analysing, and reporting on company expenses. Your primary goal will be to optimise spending, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide valuable insights to support effective financial decision-making. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• You will be responsible for working directly with cost centre owners to ensure a full understanding of their costs and a cost-conscious culture is maintained.
• Conduct regular analysis of expense patterns, trends, and budget adherence to identify areas of improvement.
• Full responsibility for forecasting of the expense base.
• You will work closely with finance team members to forecast future expenses based on historical data, industry trends, and business growth plans.
• Provide ongoing support and analysis during budgeting processes to ensure accuracy and alignment with financial goals.
• You will prepare detailed expense reports, variance analysis, and presentations for the senior leadership team/board level reporting on the groups expense base.
• You will implement and maintain best practice and standardise expense management and a payables approval process across the organisation.
• You will continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to expense management systems and procedures, including direct engagement with suppliers to ensure bets possible commercial terms.

Key Skills:

• Proven experience as an analyst, preferably in expense management.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience with process improvement and implementing efficient workflows.
• Qualified, Part-Qualified, or QBE - experience is more important in this role.
