Financial Controller - £65,000 - 4-Day Week - Ormskirk
Location: Ormskirk (Office-based 4 days OR 3 days office / 1 day home)
Salary: £65,000 (Pro-rata - full-time equivalent)
Working Pattern: 4 days per week (Flexible working options available)

The Role:
As Financial Controller, you will report directly to the Managing Director and work closely with department heads. You'll be responsible for managing all aspects of financial operations, compliance, and reporting, with the opportunity to help shape strategy as we continue to grow.
This is a broad, varied role-ideal for someone who enjoys getting into the detail while also stepping back to provide strategic insight.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce timely and accurate monthly management accounts with analysis and commentary
Prepare year-end financial statements and manage the audit process
Cash flow forecasting and management
Lead on budgeting and forecasting across all divisions
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide commercial insight to improve profitability
Oversee daily financial operations including banking, credit control, AP/AR, and payroll oversight
Manage VAT returns, HMRC compliance and liaise with external accountants
Maintain and develop internal controls, financial policies, and procedures
Assist in evaluating business performance and investment decisions across sites
Work with operational teams to understand revenue trends, cost control, and margin improvement opportunities
Support with funding, grants, or capex initiatives as required
Implementation or optimisation of finance systems and processes
Ideal Candidate:
Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)with significant SME experience
Previous experience as a Financial Controller or Finance Manager in a multi-site business
Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of commercial finance
Confident communicator who can liaise effectively across all levels of the business
Proactive, hands-on, and happy to roll up sleeves in a small finance team
