Accountable Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a market leading business based in Chester to recruit a high-calibre Financial Controller to join their leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong, fully qualified accountant looking to develop within a dynamic and fast paced business.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Own the balance sheet and ensure robust controls are in place across all key accounts
- Work closely with auditors and manage the year-end audit process
- Prepare and review statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP / IFRS
- Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital monitoring
- Oversee VAT and other regulatory returns
- Lead and develop a small finance team
- Support budgeting and forecasting cycles, working closely with FP&A or commercial finance colleagues
- Drive improvements in financial processes, systems, and internal controls
- Act as a key finance contact for senior stakeholders across the business
Key Skills & Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Post-qualified experience in a technical finance role, ideally as a 2nd or 3rd move from practice or industry
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS; experience preparing statutory accounts
- Excellent attention to detail and a hands-on approach to financial control
- Confident communicator, able to work cross-functionally and present to senior leadership
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
- Proven track record of improving systems, controls, and processes
