We are seeking a commercially astute and hands-on Finance & Commercial Manager to drive financial planning, performance monitoring, and commercial insight across a growing services business based in Lancashire. This pivotal role will support ambitious goals to double turnover within 2-3 years.

This role is vital to setting up robust financial controls, improving visibility across the business, and supporting operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning & Reporting
    • Prepare and present weekly sales and revenue forecasts
    • Own the production of monthly and annual Profit & Loss statements
    • Develop and maintain cashflow reports and working capital analysis
    • Manage weekly and monthly accounting processes
    • Lead insurance tracking and cost allocation
  • Commercial Insight & Strategy
    • Deliver commercial analysis to drive revenue and margin improvements
    • Conduct a bottom-up review of overheads
    • Provide insights from business performance with a focus on increased profitability
  • Operational Finance
    • Oversee financials for business services
    • Support cost allocation and operational expenses
    • Set up and implement an accounting timetable and reporting structure
  • Leadership & Team Management
    • Take responsibility for change management, delivering growth through focussed MI as part of an effective SLT.
    • Support the senior leadership team with commercial and operational insight
    • Supervise and develop the small accounts team (2 transactional finance staff)
    • Collaborate with the customer service and sales teams -ensuring critical data integrity
    • Report into a transitioning leadership team
  • Governance & Planning
    • Support year-end reporting, including audit prep and statutory compliance
    • Drive structured management meetings with timely and accurate reporting
    • Assist with long-term financial planning aligned with the company's growth ambitions

Candidate Profile:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) preferred
  • Strong understanding of operational businesses and commercial finance
  • Proven experience in forecasting, cashflow, and P&L management
  • Ability to build structure and implement financial systems and controls
  • Commercially minded, proactive, and able to influence strategic decisions
  • Experience leading small finance teams and cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong communication and business partnering skills with the ability to manage staff to get results.
